Brett Latcham

BLatcham

Over the past 10 years Brett has developed skills to coach golfers of all levels from elite athletes to weekend amateurs. This experience has been honed and developed particularly in the last 5 years as a direct understudy of Steve Bann and Dale Lynch at Australia’s IIG branch. Brett has also had a 15 year student relationship with Bann / Lynch golf, combining this experience with the diligent training undertaken in the last 5 years allows Brett to understand golf and teaching golf inside out.

Brett has also been fortunate in learning and understanding the Hank Haney method of coaching from a close friend Peter Murphy (formally Hank Haney’s no1 assistant)..

An Australian, Melbournian Brett grew up playing on the World Famous Melbourne sand belt courses and competing against what are now the worlds elite, such as Geoff Ogilvy and Aaron Baddeley. As a junior and a young amateur Brett developed knowledge of and skills in the golf industry at the Peninsula Country Golf Club www.peninsulagolf.com.au  (1992 -1998) the home of the Australian Tour Qualifying School.

Completing this tutelage and experience Brett moved to the world renowned Victoria Golf Club www.victoriagolf.com.au (10/1998 – 3/2004) home of Geoff Ogilvy, Peter Thompson and the late Doug Bachli. Host to 3 Australian opens, 1 Australian PGA and 4 Victorian opens. Victoria is regularly ranked in the top 10 courses in the country. During Brett’s time at Victoria he was tutored under Brian Simpson (past president of the AUS PGA). Brett’s playing at an amateur level improved to be ranked in the top 20 players in the state before beginning The Australian PGA’s assistants program in 2000, then achieving a top 10 state ranking in the first 18 months of the program before turning his attention purely to coaching. During Brett’s apprenticeship he coached several tour players and top amateurs. Highlights were 2 students competing at the Australian Open 2002 and 2 students being accepted for US college scholarships and numerous students competing at state and national elite amateur level.
